Faculty Group Receives Initial Science Training Partnership Award

OXFORD, Skip. – A group of College of Mississippi faculty associates has acquired a prestigious $1.3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health’s Science Schooling Partnership Award program.

This is the initially SEPA grant awarded to the college. It brings jointly school from across the college to participate in Job Rating, which stands for Pupil Centered Results Research Expertise.

The objective of Job Rating is to excite Mississippi’s high school and university learners about the overall health sciences. Learners will participate in a yearlong weekly afterschool program aimed at growing their fascination in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and wellbeing science occupations.

Caroline Compretta, Erin Dehon and Rob Rockhold from the UM Medical Center also serve as co-investigators, and school from both equally the Oxford and Health-related Middle campuses will take part.

Two local community organizations, the Boys & Ladies Club in Oxford and Stewpot Local community Products and services in Jackson, are integral companions. Each and every group will host a workshop, which Barnard said will be beneficial.

“Being equipped to present a software in a local community room in which college students are now comfy is important,” Barnard said. “We are connecting college researchers with the group in a neighborhood area simply because this project is concentrated on collaboratively studying with the local community.”
