Many Academics Higher education faculty users have gained major honors in the latest months. They are:

Melanie Brewster, Associate Professor of Counseling Psychology and Co-Founder of TC’s Sexuality, Women of all ages, & Gender Undertaking, obtained the 2020 Fritz & Linn Kuder Early Profession Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions to Counseling Psychology. Given by Division 17 of the American Psychological Association, the award honors excellent contributions to the science and observe of counseling psychology by an early vocation psychologist.

Brewster is Director of Scientific Teaching for TC’s Counseling Psychology Ph.D. plan. In 2014, Brewster printed Atheists in America (Columbia College Push), a collection of additional than two dozen narratives by atheists from various backgrounds across the United States. 

Sonya Douglass Horsford, Associate Professor of Training Leadership, received the 2020 Critics’ Option E-book Award of the American Educational Experiments Association for The Politics of Education Policy in an Era of Inequality: Choices Toward Democratic Education (co-authored with Janelle T. Scott and Gary L. Anderson).

Horsford’s function focuses on racial inequality in K-12 colleges and how race is conceptualized and recognized by leaders for fairness and social justice in the United States. She is the Founding Director of TC’s Black Education and learning Analysis Collective and Co-Director of the College’s City Education and learning Leaders Plan.

Her earlier publications involve Intersectional Identities and Educational Management of Black Ladies in the Usa (Abingdon: Routledge 2014) and Discovering in a Burning House: Instructional Inequality, Ideology, and (Dis)integration (Lecturers University Press), which obtained the 2013 Critics’ Choice Award from the American Academic Research Affiliation. 

Jeffrey Henig, Professor of Political Science & Schooling, received the 2020 Dennis Judd Best E book Award for Outside the house Dollars in Faculty Board Elections: The Nationalization of Instruction Politics (Harvard Schooling Press 2019), alongside with his co-authors, Rebecca Jacobsen (Ph.D. ’07) and Sarah Reckhow, both of those of Michigan Point out University. Sabic-El-Rayess is Job Director of TC’s Center for Gain-Price Experiments in Schooling and Affiliated Faculty at Columbia University’s Harriman Institute for Russian, Eurasian and Jap European Reports. 

Laura Smith, Professor of Psychology & Training, was elected to Fellow status in the American Psychological Association by the APA Council of Representatives.

Smith’s work focuses on social inclusion/exclusion and emotional wellbeing, social course and poverty, anti-racism and Whiteness, and participatory action study.

Smith is the writer of Psychology, Poverty, and the Conclusion of Social Exclusion: Placing our Apply to Function (Teachers Higher education Push 2010) and Counseling the Culturally Numerous: Principle and Practice (Wiley 2019), co-authored with TC psychologist Derald Wing Sue, David Sue and Helen A. Neville.
