Ehrenthal named director of Social Science Exploration Institute

Dr. Deborah Ehrenthal has been named the new director of the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI), productive Sept. 1. Dr. Ehrenthal succeeds Susan McHale, who is returning to her total-time faculty placement soon after 14 decades as director.

“We would like to thank Dr. McHale for her steerage around the many years,” stated Senior Vice President for Investigation Lora Weiss. “Susan’s perseverance to bring collectively and help researchers across the University has positioned SSRI to boldly deal with interdisciplinary social sciences investigate difficulties.”

Dr. Ehrenthal is a professor in the School of Drugs and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her investigation is focused on the social and wellness care factors that form the health of girls and little ones in the course of the course of daily life. Her get the job done has been funded by the Countrywide Institutes of Health and fitness, the Centers for Disorder Control and Prevention, and other state and federal organizations.

She presently retains appointments in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Populace Health and fitness Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is principal investigator of the Overall health Disparities Exploration Students Postdoctoral Teaching Method, funded by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Wellbeing and Human Growth, and founding director of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Avoidance Investigate Heart, funded by the CDC. Dr. Ehrenthal obtained a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Wesleyan University and health-related degree from the College of Massachusetts Health-related School. She completed her internship and residency training in inner medicine at Yale-New Haven Medical center and received a grasp of community health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg College of Community Health and fitness.
